What is your favourite thing about working at Dovedale?

The children, we have the best children in Dovedale and they make me smile everyday.

 

Did you want to be a Teacher as a child?

No I wanted to be a newspaper reader until I was 16.

 

Have you had any jobs before you were a Teacher?

Only a part-time job in a hotel when I was a teenager.

 

What are you hobbies?

Playing the guitar and singing in a choir.

 

What is your favourite subject to teach?

Maths because it is a good feeling when someone is struggling and then they suddenly get it!

 

What do you find difficult to teach?

Art because I’m not very good at it.

Why did you choose to be a mentor?

I wanted children to feel better about themselves as I was bullied in primary school.

 

What do you like about working with children?

Their honesty, imagination and how willing they are to work with me.

 

What parts of your job do you find hard?

The amount of children I need to see in four days.

 

What are the main roles of your job?

Helping children feel happier.

 

What is the sort of problems you solve the most?

Anxiety, anger and confidence issues.

 

What do you enjoy about  being a mentor?

Seeing happy children, staff and parents.

I used to be a pianist and play with an orchestra when I was 13.

Working with the fantastic children and the brilliant staff.

No, I wanted to be an artist.

Yes, I was a waitress in a restaurant and I worked in a bar.

 

What are you hobbies?

Walking, spending time with friends, going to festivals and events and watching a good tv series.

Art because I like everyone getting the paints out and getting messy!

 

What do you find difficult to teach?

Music, mainly because we don’t usually teach it.

  1. Why did you start Inside Scoop?

I thought it was a fun writing opportunity.

 

  1. Are there any pleasurable things about working with receptions in particular?

You get to see a lot of development in a short period of time.

 

  1. Are there any things you feel receptions don’t want to listen to?

They find it hard to listen for a long time.

2 and a half years.

 

  1. Have you ever done any journalism?

Yes I did part of my degree in journalism and I worked on Rihanna’s tour.

We think of ways to make our writing fun.

Yes, that was the other part of my degree.

 

 

  1. How did the idea of Inside Scoop come about?

Me and Mrs.Cannon had a discussion about a writing club and put our ideas together.

I worked in jewellers and at Tesco.

I can’t peel potatoes very well… in fact I’m not a good cook at all.

 

Was it hard preparing for Safer Internet Day?

No because I really enjoy it and I had loads of ideas. The difficult part was adapting my plans for each year group.

 

What was it like working with Mrs Thomas?

Fabulous, I loved it.

 

How successful was Safer Internet Day this year?

Very successful. The work is displayed around the school.

Yes as we did extra things, such as an assembly.

 

5. Why did you want to help this year?

I want to make sure all of our students are safe online.

I started here in 1996 meaning this is my 21st class!

 

What is your favourite thing about working at Dovedale?

The children are fantastic and very engaged, the staff are amazing and the parents are gorgeous.

 

Did you want to be a Teacher as a child?

I wanted to be either a teacher or a lawyer.

 

Have you had any jobs before you were a Teacher?

I was a barman and a children’s entertainer at a holiday camp.

 

What are your hobbies?

I like watching Liverpool football team and playing my own games as a defender- I am the captain of the team.

 

What is your favourite subject to teach?

I like teaching maths and history the most.

 

What do you find difficult to teach?

I find music most difficult to teach as I have a terrible voice.

Yes I was a telephone repairman and a student recruitment officer.

Reading but I usually fall asleep after the first page because I am tired after marking books! I enjoy doing anything with  my child.

3 years [this is my 4th].

 

What do you like about working at Dovedale?

The children and the focus on creativity in lessons.

 

 

Did you want to be a deputy head as a child?

No but I did want to be a teacher.

 

 

Have you had any other jobs before becoming a Teacher?

I was a student, bar tender and a manager of the WHSmiths cash office.

 

 

What are your hobbies outside of Dovedale?

 I like walking, spending time with my daughter and reading especially on holiday.

 

 

What is your least favourite/ favourite subject?

My most is maths and writing. My least is geography and music.

My best was English and history, my worst was P.E.

 

 

What do your friends and family do for work?

Some of my friends are teachers and others work in the medical professions. My brother is a gas fitter.

I have worked at Dovedale for 8 years.

 

What do you like about working at Dovedale?

I love working with friends.

I have always wanted to be a teacher since the age of 6.

        I have had lots of Saturday jobs selling wedding dresses, mobile phones and a waitress in a restaurant. 

 

What are your hobbies outside of Dovedale?

I like to read, go on holidays, meet with friends and go on walks.

      I love to teach writing as I enjoy writing myself.

       P.E but in reception it’s called P.D, standing for physical development.

We carried out our first interview of the year with Mrs Jones; Dovedale's Deputy Head. We asked her lots of challenging questions and found out lots of things we did not know about Mrs Jones...

 

How long have you worked at Dovedale?

I came to Dovedale in September 2007.

 

What do you like about working at Dovedale?

The brilliant children in the school, the fantastic staff. I think its even better now that the school has expanded.

 

Did you want to be a Teacher as a child?

No, I wanted to be a Journalist because I love writing.

 

Have you had any other jobs before becoming a Teacher?

Yes, when I was in School I worked in the Greengrocers so I’m an expert in vegetables. When I was at College I worked in Mothercare and when I was at University I worked in Asda. After that I worked in Manchester College writing the prospectus and then I learnt to how to become a Teacher. The best school that I’ve taught in is Dovedale!

 

What are your hobbies outside of Dovedale?

I like to climb mountains, go walking in the Lake District and I love to travel.

 

What is your favourite subject to teach?

I like teaching Maths because I found it hard at school so it is great to be able to teach it now.

 

What do you find difficult to teach?

 

I find Languages hard, it is something I would like to be better at.

 

 

Which members of staff are you friends with outside of work?

I’d like to think I’m friends with all of the Teachers. I see a lot of Ms Noble outside of school.

 

Who would you like to work with in the future?

I like working with all the Teachers, I also have lots of friends who are Teachers in other schools.

 

What is something that nobody knows about you?

I’ve met Bill Clinton, the former President of America. I met him because I was learning about American Politics.
